There’s a new device on the market called Fixd that is supposed to help diagnose any problems with your car. The catch is that your vehicle has to be made after 1996 if you’re in Canada or the United States (if you’re located outside of these two countries your vehicle might have to have been manufactured after 2002). All you have to do is plug this device into your ODB-II port area (found underneath the steering wheel in most vehicles). You plugin the sensor and then you download the free Fixd App on your smartphone. It’ll then ask you a few questions about the make and model of your car and once you enter that information you’re all set and ready to go!
What Information Does Fixd Provide You With?
Fixd will give you actionable information you can use if your engine check light ever comes on. It’ll tell you exactly why your check engine light is on so that you don’t have to guess what the issue is with your vehicle. In this day and age, this is something that’s definitely very useful, as some mechanics like to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. For instance, there was recently one woman who tested to see if her long time mechanic was being honest with her. He ended up telling her the reason her check engine light was on was because of her transmission, and he told her it would cost approximately $2000 to fix! That was a complete lie… She used the Fixd device to prove that she only needed a small repair done to turn off her check engine light (it cost her under $50). Overall, is Fixd a Scam or Worth Buying?
After using the device for over 6 months we can tell you that it isn’t a scam and that it is definitely something worth buying if you’re having issues with your car. If your car is still under warranty though with the manufacturer then this is probably something you don’t really need.
